Career

Given today’s economic climate, being prepared and making the right long-term educational and career decisions is more critical than ever before.  The SAE Youth Career Committee aims to develop and foster a central portal to equip Greek-American youth with the tools necessary to achieve a successful start to their career.  We are also dedicated to providing Greek-American youth with the knowledge and understanding needed to make informed and impactful decisions to ensure a promising professional future.

The objectives of the SAE Youth Career Committee are the following:
•    Leadership and Personal Development
•    Networking
•    Scholarship and Opportunity Discovery

Currently, the SAE Youth Career Committee is focused on the following activities:
•    Aggregating scholarship and job opportunities for Greek youth
•    Organizing a mentorship program
•    Sharing of best practices for Greek youth and professional organizations

For more information regarding our Career initiatives or to learn more about how to get involved, please contact Bob Kakoliris at career@saeusayouth.com.

Message and Opportunity Board:
We are currently working on a implementing a message board so that Greek-American youth can have an open forum to ask their questions and get them answered.  Moreover, we will be aggregating job opportunity and scholarship opportunities geared towards Greek-American youth and incorporating them in this section.

Mentorship Program:
The mentorship program is a platform by which young Greek-Americans, students and professionals, could benefit from the guidance and wisdom of successful and established members of the Greek-American community.

The notion of mentoring is, of course, ancient and Greek. When Odysseus went to fight in the Trojan War he entrusted the care of his household to Mentor who served as teacher and overseer of Odysseus' son, Telemachus.  The original Mentor was described by Homer as a "wise and trusted counselor".

In the coming months, we will develop materials which will include details on the mentor program and provide you with advice and recommendations on how to make the most of a mentor/mentee relationship.

Leadership Development:
The SAE Youth Career Committee is dedicated to fostering an environment where Greek American youth are able to develop the skill set necessary to become future professional leaders.  Our approach is to become a central point where Greek American individuals and organizations can join together and share best leadership practices and opportunities through partnering with other Greek youth organizations and discovering leadership programs available for Greek-American youth.
